The Ribeira Sacra and the Sil canyons are some of the treasures of Galicia. The Ribeira Sacra is an area that includes the banks of the rivers Miño, Sil and Cabe and receives this name due to the profusion of different eremitical settlements promoted by the the Benedictine order. These date from the tenth and twelfth centuries. These places were built in spaces deserted of people and outside the pace of life of the cities.
For a complete visit we recommend:
1. Visit the viewpoint of the Balcones de Madrid, where you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of a part of the canyon.
2. Sail on a catamaran on the waters of the Sil, it is a unique view of the canyons and an unrepeatable experience.
3. Enjoy the wines of the area. You will find several wineries that offer routes and private tastings.
4. Visit the various monasteries along the route, including the monastery of Santa Cristina, the monastery of Santo Estevo, Monastery of San Pedro de Rocas…
